The
planning and needs assessment teams were formed from the current SBDM
standing committees. Rosa
Parks SBDM committees included: Curriculum, Needs Assessment,
School/Community/Safety, Technology/Budget, and Professional
Development/Consolidated Plan. In
addition, for our gap reduction plan, we formed a parent focus group to
brainstorm additional strategies for our gap students.

parents and certified staff. All
classified staff was invited to participate on committees.
How
the Needs of the School or District Were Determined:
Each
committee involved in the planning process determined needs by reviewing
and analyzing student achievement data, creating surveys, and/or
facilitating discussion.
How
Goals and Strategies Were Decided Upon:
A
‘Key Findings’ worksheet
was developed which included a
section for all committees to write suggested strategies based on key
findings. These were discussed as a faculty, who then worked in groups to
develop goals and strategies.
What
Implementation of the Plan is Expected to Achieve:
Full
implementation of the plan is expected to promote strategies that will
increase student achievement for all Rosa Parks students in all core
content areas. In addition,
it is expected the achievement gap will be reduced for all students by
providing instruction that reduces barriers and addresses diverse learning
needs regardless of race, socioeconomic status, gender, or disability.
What
Process was Used for Internal Review of the Plan:
A
draft copy of the plan was given to SBDM, all teachers, and members of the
Consolidated Plan committee for review/suggestions/feedback.
A draft copy of the preliminary plan was also sent to the
district coordinators for review. Revisions were made based on all
feedback. The Consolidated Plan committee reviewed the final plan before
presenting it to faculty and SBDM for final approval.
How
Public Comment was Secured and What Response was Made:
Public
comment was secured through focus groups, committee meetings, and
SBDM meetings. Parents were
also notified through the school newsletter that the plan was available at
school for review and feedback.
How
Consolidated Planning Will be Ensured in the Future:
The
Comprehensive School Improvement Plan is considered to be a viable,
working document. Therefore,
the planning/revision process is ongoing.
Strategies will be added/revised based on the changing needs of
students. The plan will continually be monitored and assessed for progress
towards meeting goals through the Implementation/ Impact check and
periodic monitoring by the Consolidated Plan committee.
