ACCELERATED READING PROGRAM

The Accelerated Reading Program is a reading practice program that supplements the guided reading program used in the classroom. The basic philosophy is: the more students read the better readers they will become. The students are encouraged to read books on an appropriate reading level and take a comprehension test on the computer. The student earns points for successful tests and the points may be accumulated and exchanged for prizes or incentives. Students are encouraged and offered the chance to participate in AR. A grade level goal is set for those who want to go beyond the minimum and the incentive is a bowling trip the last month of school for those who meet this goal.
