Overview |
Rosa Parks
Elementary School opened in August 1997, in the residential section
of Beaumont Centre. The school was named after Rosa Parks for her
outstanding contributions to society including her stand on Civil
Rights. Parent and community involvement are integral parts of the
academic program. A well-organized PTA and active support from
parents have been a key to the success of Rosa Parks Elementary.

Knowing all
students can achieve and succeed, the staff of Rosa Parks Elementary
shares the responsibility to educate all students in a positive,
safe, and challenging learning environment in order to develop
life-long learners who appreciate and respect individual
differences.

Academic
Programs |
Rosa Parks
Elementary School offers students a strong integrated academic
curriculum with emphasis on communication skills: reading, writing,
speaking, listening, observing, research, and technology.
Primary-Grade 5 students progress academically at their own rate,
and instruction is tailored to accommodate the needs of every
student based on continuous assessments at all levels. Special
classes are offered in music, physical education, art, science lab,
library and computer lab.

Progress |
Based on the April
2002 Kentucky Core Content Test Scores, Rosa Parks’ students
scored 100.0 in Reading, 82.4 in Math, 90.7 in Science, 82.0 in
Social Studies, 59.4 in Arts & Humanities, 82.8 in Practical
Living/Vocational Studies, and 65.8 in writing. The total Academic
Index score was 83.6. Rosa Parks’ CTBS index was 118.9. |
